Free Fare Program Comes to a Close

After more than a year of offering free fare to all passengers, Beaumont Transit will begin resuming fare collection on November 1, 2021. 
Beaumont’s Free Fare Program has been offered to all passengers through a Low Carbon Transportation Operations Program (LCTOP) grant administered by Caltrans and awarded to the City of Beaumont. From October 1, 2020, through September 30, 2021, 49,691 passenger trips were taken on the Free Fare Program.
“The Free Fare Program was instrumental during the pandemic”, said Elizabeth Gibbs, Community Services Director. “By eliminating unnecessary contact, Beaumont Transit was able to ensure passenger and employee safety while providing transportation to essential services.”
Grant funding for the program expires on October 31. Once fares resume, passengers are invited to download Token Transit for mobile ticketing, purchase monthly passes and ticket books, or use exact change. The current fee schedule is available online at
